Java stored procedures were first introduced in Oracle 8i and regulary updated with every release of Oracle database. Despite the huge potential and many functionality which are introduced with Java in the database, wide acceptance of Java Stored Procedures has not yet occurred. There are several reasons for that, starting with many architectural, functional and implementation differences between JVM inside the database and the regular JVM on the client machine or application server. It can be said that Java stored procedures are on the same distance between Java developers and Oracle DBA. For that reason, It is necessary for Java developer to know many details about Oracle database, as well as for the Oracle DBA to know many details about Java, to be able to take advantage of implementing that technology in efficient way.In this half hour session I'll try to answer the main questions which prevents better adoption of Java Stored Procedures like:- main architectural differences between JVM in database and regular JVM- how to debug Java stored procedures- how to deploy java programs into the database- when to use it - performance perspective of Java Stored Procedures- how to profile Java Stored Procedures- some ideas of how to extend functionality of Oracle database by using it This session is targeted to Java developers who are looking to develop by using the Oracle database , as well as for the Oracle DBA and developers to extend the database functionality.
